Anderson, Lenior-Rhyne Battle To 2-2 Tie

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson College women's soccer team jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 22 minutes of the match then held on for a 2-2 against Lenior-Rhyne Wednesday night at Smethers Field. Anderson is now 0-2-1 overall, while Lenior-Rhyne stands at 1-1-3. Anderson opened the scoring at the 10:42 mark on a 15-yard top shelf blast by Larissa Fedorowich. Adriane Klebe scored off a restart at 21:24 to give Anderson a 2-0 lead. The Bears suffered some bad luck in the first half. Five first-half shots by Lenior-Rhyne hit the crossbar. In the second half, Lenior-Rhyne increased its offensive pressure and battled back to tie the match at 2. Debbie Stroupe scored at 54:04 and Whitney Cline provided the equalizer at 83:04. Neither team could mount a serious threat in the two overtime periods. The first overtime period was delayed for 20 minutes by a power outage. Lenior-Rhyne outshot Anderson, 23-10. Anderson goalkeeper Amanda English made six saves, while L-R goalkeeper Nicole Ley made four saves. Anderson returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. when it plays host to CVAC foe Barton College.
