Dowler Scores Hat Trick To Lead AC

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Conor Dowler scored a hat trick to lead Anderson College to a 6-0 non-conference victory over Tennessee Temple Friday night at Smethers Field. Dowler, a sophomore from Dublin, Ireland, scored his first goal four minutes into the match off an assist from Michael Zion. After Dowler's opening goal, Zion scored on a rebound and Wrenel Roberts scored off a restart to give Anderson a 3-0 lead at the half. In the second half, Clint Gillis scored in the 55th minute off an assist from Jody Forno. Dowler then scored AC's final two goals -- in the 59th minute off an assist by Roberts and in the 62nd minute on a penalty kick. Anderson outshot Tennessee Temple, 38-4. Former T.L. Hanna goalkeeper Alex Jenkins and Jack Ward combined for the shutout. Jenkins, a freshman from Anderson, played 75 minutes and collected two saves. Season Statistics
