Men's Soccer Team Battles Past Coker, 3-2

ANDERSON, S.C. - Michael Zion scored off a loose ball in the box at the 76:40 mark and Anderson College managed to hang on for a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Coker in a CVAC men's match Monday night at Smethers Field. Anderson, 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the CVAC, trailed 2-1 a minute into the second half, but the Trojans rallied with goals by Patrick Bridges at 54:18 off an assist from Conor Dowler and Zion's game winner. The Trojans, who have won three straight, scored first at 29:26 when Trey Aull intercepted a clearing pass and scored. Coker, 0-6-1 and 0-4-1, tied the match at 1 at the 31:55 mark when Sean Maupin intercepted a pass and scored. Maupin gave the Cobras their first lead 36 seconds into the second half when he scored on a breakaway. Coker outshot Anderson, 17-14. Anderson goalkeeper Alex Jenkins made six saves to earn the victory. It was an extremely physical match with a total of 52 fouls, 30 on Anderson and 22 on Coker. Anderson also had six yellow cards and one red card to three yellows and one red for Coker. Both teams played the final seven minutes one man down after Zion and Andres Webb of Coker both were ejected after an incident in front of the Anderson bench. Season Statistics
