Badraun Named SAC Freshman of the Year; Four Trojans Earn All-SAC Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Radyn Badraun, Peyton Jefferson, Garrett Hawkins, and Hunter Klosterman of the Anderson University men's lacrosse team earned All-South Atlantic Conference awards on Wednesday (Apr. 26) announced by the league office.

Badraun, a freshman from Mission Viejo, CA, was named the SAC Freshman of the Year and a spot on the All-SAC Third Team. Radyn finished his first year in the black and gold with 56 goals which is second best in the conference. He also dished out 20 assists, picked up 28 ground balls, and caused 10 turnovers. Perhaps his signature game came against Lander on March 18th where he scored six goals in the team's 14-9 victory. Badraun also had great performances in both matches against Limestone, scoring four goals in the thrilling overtime victory on March 11th, and five scores in Tuesday's (Apr. 25) loss in the SAC Quarterfinals.

Jefferson, a senior from Allen, TX, earned first-team honors as a defender. Peyton caused 38 turnovers this season which ranks him fourth in the conference. He picked up 57 ground balls and scored seven goals as well. His game high was five CT's in the April 8th loss to Wingate, while having four CT's against Chowan (Feb. 4) and Coker (Mar. 4). Peyton also contributed offensively in the team's 15-10 win over Embry-Riddle (Feb. 12). This year, Jefferson earned USILA D2 Team of the Week and SAC Varsity Gems Defensive Player of the Week honors as well.

Hawkins, a junior from Clover, S.C., earned a spot on the third team as a midfielder. Garrett scored 22 goals and dished out 13 assists while playing a pivotal role in the midfield this season for the Trojans. His signature game of the season came in the win over Catawba (Mar. 25) when he scored three goals with two assists, earning himself SAC Varsity Gems Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Klosterman, a freshman from Cumming, GA, earned third team honors in his freshman season as goalkeeper. Hunter started in 12 of his 17 games played, taking over the starting job full-time on March 4th in the win over Coker. Klosterman finished the season third in the conference with 167 saves. His signature game of the year was the March 18th win at Lander in which he totaled 20 saves. Other key performances were the OT win over Limestone (15 saves) and Catawba (16 saves).

"We are very excited to have all these players recognized," said coach Albert Mitchell. "It is a testament to the hard work they put in on their own time and at practice. It is also a testament to their teammates putting them in great positions to succeed."
