Trojans Finish Off Florida Trip With 15-10 Win Over Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Anderson University men's lacrosse team picked up their third consecutive win to open the 2023 season with a 15-10 victory on the road at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

On Friday, the Trojans upset the No.14 nationally ranked Florida Southern Mocs by a score of 19-15. Anderson carried that momentum over into Sunday's game against the Eagles by scoring four of the first five goals of the afternoon, taking the 4-1 lead into the second period. Embry-Riddle bounced back in the second period, outscoring Anderson 5-4 to cut the lead to 8-6 heading into halftime.

The Trojans opened up the second half with a pair of man-up goals from Beau Henson and Radyn Badraun, both of the goals being assisted by Ryley Zopfi. Embry Riddle answered with a pair of goals of their own, setting up a competitive fourth period of play.

Radyn Badraun completed his hat trick with the opening goal of the fourth period. Gavin Madden of E-R responded with back-to-back goals to make it a one-score game with under six minutes remaining. An illegal body check from the Eagles proved costly at the 4:53 minute mark, leading to a man-up goal from Max Calabrese. Garrett Hawkins, Peyton Jefferson, and Matthew Rodgers each scored for the Trojans in the closing minutes to seal the 15-10 victory.

Garrett Hawkins and Radyn Badraun each had a hat trick on the afternoon. Matthew Rodgers, Peyton Jefferson, and Max Calabrese each scored twice. Chase Robertson and Jefferson each caused two turnovers. Cam Weeks was 20-29 on his faceoff attempts with 10 ground balls, while Bryce Cheek picked up nine saves.

The Trojans will return to Spero Financial Field on Wednesday (Feb. 15) as they play host to Lees-McRae. Video and live stats can be found at autrojans.com.
