ANDERSON, S.C. – Cam Weeks, Peyton Jefferson, and Logan Gaddis of the Anderson University men's lacrosse team earned preseason All-American honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine, announced Tuesday (Jan. 17).
Weeks, a junior from Mt. Pleasant, S.C., earned first -team honors coming off an historic sophomore season as he set the new South Atlantic Conference record for ground balls in a season with 174. His faceoff percentage of 82% set a new all-time season high for all three divisions of NCAA. A signature game of Weeks' sophomore season came on Feb. 23 against North Greenville, in which he won 31 of his 35 faceoff attempts while picking up 28 GBs in the 17-16 win.
Jefferson, a senior from Allen, TX, earned second-team honors on defense. Jefferson was a vital part of the Trojan defense this season, causing 32 turnovers which was tied for second in the SAC. He also had a great game in the win over North Greenville when he caused five turnovers. His game high on the season was six caused turnovers in the loss versus Queens, which earned him USILA D2 Team of the Week honors. After the season, Peyton earned All-SAC second team and a spot on the USILA DII South All-Region Team.
Gaddis, a junior from Norcross, GA, was an honorable mention after having an excellent sophomore season as he finished the year second in the SAC for assists (54) and fifth in total points (74). He recorded at least one assist in every game last season, having six games with at least four assists.
"We are happy to see Cam, Peyton, and Logan be recognized for their past success," said coach Albert Mitchell. "It will be exciting to see them get back on the field and continue their success."
The Trojans will start their 2023 season at Spero Financial Field on Saturday (Feb. 4) as they play host to Chowan University at noon. More information can be found at autrojans.com as the season approaches.
