Dominant Third Period Leads Rollins Past Anderson 17-10

ANDERSON, S.C. – The No.15 Anderson University men's lacrosse team came up short to No.9 Rollins by a score of 17-10 on a rainy Friday night at Spero Financial Field.

The Trojans entered the Friday night contest with a record of 5-0, and rising to No.15 in the most recent USILA national poll. Logan Gaddis, Chase Robertson, and Cam Weeks swept SAC Player of the Week honors due to their efforts in the victories over Lees-McRae and Young Harris.

Rollins jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first quarter to take control of the game. However, Anderson answered by scoring three of the next four to close the gap to 5-3 after 15 minutes of action.

It was a defensive quarter of action in the second as scoring was limited for both teams. Around the 10-minute mark of the period, Rollins was called for a three-minute penalty (non-releasable) which gave the Trojans an opportunity to get back into the game while trailing 6-3. Beau Henson was able to score off an assist from Logan Gaddis, but from that point on Rollins held strong defensively to release the penalty. Goalie Shane Katchadurian was brilliant in goal, totaling 13 saves on the evening.

Peyton Jefferson scored the opening goal of the second half for the Trojans, cutting the deficit to 7-6. However, Rollins scored eight unanswered goals to end the quarter with a 15-6 lead. The Trojans did not go down without a fight, as Logan Gaddis, Radyn Badraun, Rex Hardy, and Max Calabrese each scored in the fourth quarter, but Rollins was able to cruise to the 17-10 win.

Bryce Cheek totaled eight saves in three quarters of action, while Hunter Klostermann finished with six in the final 15 minutes. Peyton Jefferson, Tyler Barlan, Max Calabrese, and Chris Czulada each caused two turnovers.

The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday (Mar. 4) as they begin SAC play at home versus the Coker Cobras. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m., with video and live stats available at autrojans.com.
