Trojans Outlast Saints in Overtime 15-14

ANDERSON, S.C. – The No.14 Anderson University men's lacrosse team won a thrilling 15-14 overtime game over the No.13 Limestone University Saints on Saturday (Mar. 11) at Spero Financial Field.

Radyn Badraun paced the Trojan offense in the first quarter, scoring a pair of goals to fuel a 4-1 lead after fifteen minutes of play. Cam Weeks took the opening faceoff of the second period and scored the fifth goal of the match. Momentum then flipped in Limestone's favor, outscoring the Trojans 7-3 from that point on, with four goals from Zachary Terry, going into halftime tied at 8.

It continued to be a competitive, back and forth game as the second half began. Both goalies continued their impressive play, limiting the scoring to two goals one each side, setting up a dramatic fourth period with the score deadlocked at 10. Zachary Terry scored two more goals, bringing his total to seven for the game and a 14-12 lead with under five minutes remaining.

After a timeout, the Trojans were able to regroup and prepare for a last-minute rally. Garrett Hawkins and Radyn Badraun each scored to tie the game, forcing a golden-goal overtime period. Momentum carried over into the extra period, as freshman Brayden Bushnoe escaped the Saints defense and scored the clinching goal nearly two minutes into overtime.

Hunter Klosterman played a great game in goal as he totaled 15 saves, with Peyton Jefferson leading the defense with two caused turnovers. Cam Weeks won 21 of his 32 faceoff attempts with 13 ground balls. Radyn Badraun finished with four goals, while Brayden Bushnoe notched a hat trick, and Garrett Hawkins scored twice.

"Could not be prouder of our team's effort today," said coach Albert Mitchell. "Where we lacked in execution at times, we made up for it with toughness and heart. Hats off to Limestone for a great game. Our focus turns to Tusculum."

The Trojans will be back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 15) as they travel to Greeneville, Tenneseee to take on Tusculum. Game time is set for 4:00, with video and live stats available at autrojans.com.
