White Signs With San Francisco Giants

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Former Anderson University first baseman John Mac White has signed a free agent contract with the San Francisco Giants. White passed a physical Tuesday and has been assigned to extended spring training in Scottsdale, Ariz. He will be assigned to one of San Francisco's farm clubs at the end of this month. White, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of Saluda, S.C., led Anderson in home runs in both the 2006 and 2007 seasons and in stolen bases in '07. For his career, White batted .304 with 26 doubles, nine triples, and 17 home runs.
