Trojans Open CVAC Play With Sweep Of Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. -- John Mac White and Blair Carson both provided RBI singles with two outs in the top of the seventh inning of the second game to give Anderson University an 11-10 victory over Limestone and a sweep of a CVAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Prevatte Field. In the first game, Anderson scored six runs in the seventh on its way to a 9-5 victory. In the second game, Limestone scored five runs in the fourth to take an 8-7 lead. Both teams scored two runs in the fifth to set the stage for Anderson's game-winning rally. Anderson collected 18 hits in the second game. Kyle Lewis hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs for the Trojans, while White had three hits and two RBI. Brandon Sheriff pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to pick up the victory. Anderson trailed 4-3 through five innings in the first game. But the Trojans erupted for six runs in the seventh. The big hits in the inning were a pair of two-run doubles by Jessie Whiteside and Josh Harrison. Anderson is now 6-7, 2-0, while Limestone falls to 5-5, 0-2. The two teams will play the third-game of the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
