Anderson, S.C. – Anderson University women's tennis opened up its home regular season with a convincing win over nonconference opponent Converse on Tuesday afternoon at AU Tennis Complex.

With the win, Anderson moves to 7-0 while Converse falls to 2-3 overall.

AU women's tennis earned the early doubles point winning both the second and third flights. Freshman Anna Greer and Anya Tarlouskaya defeated Maria Belen Vendrell and Snigdha Musugunthan, 6-3, while Victoria Wuilloud and Kristen Reynolds won over Steffi Kong and Valentina Aparicio, 6-1.

The Black and Gold won five of the six singles matches to set the final score, 6-1. AU's Greer clinched the match after defeating her opponent, 6-2 and 6-3.

"Proud of the girls today against Converse," said head coach Joey Eskridge. "They came out slow in the doubles, but rebounded in the singles and played great to finish them off. That was the best Converse team we have faced over the last twelve seasons. We have a lot to build on and I am looking forward to the rest of this season with this group of girls."

Anderson will travel to nonconference opponent North Georgia on Thursday. First-serve is slated for 2 pm.
