2019 ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes Announced

TEMPE, Ariz. – Anderson University men's tennis team earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team award with multiple student-athletes from each program being recognized as an ITA scholar-athlete, as announced by the association.

More than 4,500 scholar-athletes were recognized across all divisions, along with over 940 All-Academic teams.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status an individual player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).

Anderson men's tennis combined for an overall GPA of 3.34, while men's tennis members Preston Morpeth, Jeffrey Dayton, Jerry Price, Hank Sartain and John Lyons each compiled at least a 3.5 or better to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status.

AU women's tennis seniors Laura Dean and Jacqueline Olivia recorded a 3.5 and 3.67, respectively while sophomore Hannah Weaver earned a 4.0 to each be named as a ITA Scholar-Athlete.
