ANDERSON, S.C. -- North Georgia collected 20 hits in the second game, including three home runs by Lara Seamon, to rout Anderson University 19-7 and sweep a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Smethers Field. In the first game, North Georgia survived three homers by Anderson's Kayla Williams to pull out a 9-8 victory. Seamon hit a lead-off homer in the second, a three-run homer in the fifth, and solo homer in the sixth. Tootie Johnson hit a two-run blast in the second and Brittany Barnes hit a two-run shot in the sixth for the Saints. Trailing 4-0, Anderson scored three runs in the third on a two-run single by Kayla Thrasher and an RBI double by Allison Cromer. Leading 6-5, North Georgia sent 11 batters to plate in the fifth and scored seven runs to seize a 14-5 lead. In addition to seven hits, the Saints benefited from three Lady Trojan errors in the inning. After Anderson scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the game, the Saints scored five more in the sixth. Barnes, Seamon, Johnson, and Krista Bess all had three hits apiece for North Georgia in the second game. In the first game, a four-run third gave North Georgia a 6-1 lead. Johnson had a two-run single and Lynsey Thompson had an RBI double in the inning. Most of Anderson's offense came from Williams, who was 4-for-4 with three home runs and five RBI. She had a solo shot in the third and two-run homers in both the fifth and seventh. A two-run homer by Barnes in the sixth increased North Georgia's lead to 8-4. After the Saints added a single run in the top of the seventh, Anderson tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh. Christina Hendricks started the inning with a single but was cut down at second base after Stephanie Griffis hit a sharp single to left. After a two-run homer by Ellen Steele and single by Maranda Sialmas, Williams delivered her third homer of the game to cut the North Georgia lead to 9-8. But two strikeouts ended the Anderson comeback. Seamon and Candace Shubert had three hits apiece for North Georgia in the first game.
