Williams Finishes Sixth In Home Run Stat

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Kayla Williams of Anderson University finished sixth in the nation in home runs per game, according to the final NCAA Division II statistics released Tuesday. Williams, a freshman catcher from Anderson, S.C., hit 17 home runs to set the Anderson single-season record. Her final per game average was 0.36. Rebecca McClelland of Mesa State led the nation in home runs per game at 0.44. As a team, Anderson ranked 17th in home runs per game at 0.94 per game. The Lady Trojans hit 49 home runs in 2006. The previous school record for home runs in a single season was nine. Williams also finished 23rd in the nation in slugging percentage at 0.782.
