Men's Lacrosse Falls to Nationally Ranked Limestone 16-11

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's lacrosse team came up short to nationally ranked Limestone University in a hard-fought game by a score of 16 to 11.

Limestone entered Wednesday's match as one of the four nationally ranked teams in the South Atlantic Conference (#19), joining Lenoir-Rhyne (#4), Wingate (#8), and Queens (#15).

Ryley Zopfi got things going for the Trojans by scoring two goals in the first period. Isaiah Hines scored three of his four goals on the day in the second period as the Trojans went into halftime trailing by a score of 10-8.

Logan Gaddis scored early in the third period for the Trojans to cut the deficit to one, but Limestone ended the game on a 5-1 scoring run on their way to a 16-11 victory.

Isaiah Hines led the way offensively for Anderson with four goals, while Ryley Zopfi finished with three. Garrett Hawkins scored twice, as Nick Calabrese and Logan Gaddis each scored once. Cam Weeks won 13 faceoff attempts, and goalie Sean Ring had eight saves.

"I am proud of how we competed as a team," said coach Albert Mitchell. "It was great to see our guys step up on both sides of the ball. Ultimately, we came up short but you have to give credit to Limestone for making great plays down the stretch."

The Trojans will be back in action on Wednesday (Apr. 7) as they travel to Newberry. Opening faceoff is set for 7:00, with live coverage available at www.autrojans.com.
