Men’s Golf Finishes Tied for 14th at Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Led by senior Jake Miller's three-round 7-over-par 223, the Anderson University men's golf team finished in a tie for 14th place, Tuesday at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate.

The two-day, 54-hole event was co-hosted by Wingate and Lincoln Memorial, at the 7,136 yard, par-72, St. John's Golf & Country Club.

Barry (895) overcame a one-stroke deficit as a team to claim the title, with co-host Lincoln Memorial (906) slipping from first place to finish second. Flagler (907) jumped from fourth following Monday's first two rounds to claim third place, while Belmont Abbey (911) moved from seventh into the fourth spot. Queens (912) finished in a tie for fifth, alongside North Greenville (912), with Wingate (913) falling from a share of the top spot into a tie for seventh with Carson-Newman. King (915) and Barton (917) finished ninth and 10th, respectively, with Catawba (924) claiming 11th place.

Coker (930), Hillsdale (934), Tampa (936), Anderson (936), Southern Wesleyan (937), Christian Brothers (938), Tusculum (945), Emmanuel (1,033) and Albany State (1,084) wrapped up the 20-team field.

North Greenville's Evans Lewis (71-71-72=214) led wire-to-wire to take home individual honors by four strokes over Queens' Taisuke Ono (73-72-73=218). Albany State's Tyler Hansen (74-71-75=220) claimed third place.

Miller carded a three-round 7-over-par 223 and finished in a three-way tie for eighth, while freshman Reece Coleman trimmed four strokes off his second-round effort and finished in a six-way tie for 11th place with a three-round 224. Junior Cal Brock posted a three-round 234 and claimed a share of 52nd, with senior Drake McAlister finishing tied for 90th after notching a three-round 256. Junior Colt Martin rounded out the Trojan contingent in a share of 95th place following a three-round 263.

Following a two-week break, the Trojans will get back on the course at the Southern Tide Classic, which will be hosted at the Green Valley Country Club in Travelers Rest, S.C.
