ANDERSON, S.C. – Senior Jake Miller carded a three-round, 7-under-par 209 to lead the Trojans, as the Anderson University men's golf team finished 10th, Tuesday at the Sixth Annual North Georgia Fall Invitational.
The two-day, 54-hole tourney was hosted by the Nighthawks on a 6,967 yard, par-72 Achasta Golf Club layout.
Carson-Newman overcame a seven-stroke deficit in Tuesday's final round to win by six shots over Clayton State, with Southern Wesleyan finishing in third place. Limestone jumped four spots following Monday's first two rounds and finished in a tie for fourth place, while West Georgia climbed all the way from 12th after the first round and shared fourth place with the Saints.
Defending champion Young Harris claimed sixth place, with North Greenville and Newberry sharing seventh place. Georgia College fell to ninth, finishing one stroke in front of the Trojans. Lenoir-Rhyne, King, North Georgia and Albany State finished out the 14-team field.
Clayton State's Joseph Kim (64-67-70=201) and Carson-Newman's Tom Forster (67-65-69=201) shared individual medalist honors, with King's Leonardo Rigamonti (66-68-70=204) finishing three strokes further back in third place. Limestone's Walker Redmon (70-67-71=208) was fourth.
Miller carded a 1-under-par 71 in Tuesday's final round and finished in a three-way tie for fifth, with freshman Reece Coleman claiming a share of 10th place.
Junior Cal Brock trimmed five strokes off his second-round score and finished in a tie for 44th, while freshman Caleb Henson closed out the tourney in a tie for 69th place. Classmate Anthony Sutton rounded out the Trojan contingent alone in 77th place.
Following a two-week break, the Trojans will wrap up their fall schedule at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate, which will be hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne at the Mimosa Hills Golf Club.
