Men’s Golf Adds Pair of Prep Standouts

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's golf team has signed prep standouts Calahan Keever and Daniel Coker for the 2020 campaign, as announced Wednesday afternoon.

Keever, a native of Greenville, S.C., posted a 73.25 scoring average while playing for Coaches Jeff Ware and Jamie Michala's Eastside Eagles and was the Greenville County High School Champion. Keever also claimed the 2019 Orange Jacket title after recording identical back-to-back rounds of 68 and posted a top-five finish at the Southern Cross Tournament. He is ranked 23rd in the Palmetto State and 954th nationally (Junior Golf Scoreboard).

"We are very excited about the addition of Calahan Keever to the AU golf family," said Anderson Head Coach Danny Neal. "Calahan is a player with great golf fundamentals. He's an extremely good athlete and a player who is not afraid to make birdies. He brings a fierce, competitive attitude and a very hard work ethic to AU. We know that is going to translate into a huge asset for our program."

Coker was the South Carolina High School League 2018 Region 6 AAAA Player of the Year and posted ten Top-10 finishes in 2019, including tying for first at The Blade Junior after carding a 7-under 65. A Hartsville, S.C., native, Coker was a 2019 U.S. Junior alternate and is the first recruit in program history to be a Can Am Match Qualifier. He posted a 74.14 scoring average and is ranked 14th in South Carolina and 627th nationally (Junior Golf Scoreboard).

Off the course, Coker is a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society and is a Palmetto Fellows Scholarship recipient. He also finished in the top-20 in his class.

"Daniel is one of the most consistent players I have seen in my time recruiting," said Anderson Assistant Coach Denton Moore. "His name was always found at the top of the leader board in every event we watched. His even keel attitude on the course is one of the things I loved about him the most. He is a fantastic student and brings in great leadership. He is a huge addition to the AU golf family, and we can't wait to get him on campus."

"Including the women's signees, this is the first time we have ever brought in four players ranked inside the Top-1,000 in the country," added Moore.
