ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson Associate Director of Athletics, Randy Jones on Friday announced that former Newberry Director of Athletic Communications, Michael Sanders, has been named Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Information for the Trojans.

"Mike is an outstanding addition to the department, as well as the University," said Jones. "He has great experience with NCAA Division II and is obviously familiar with both the South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas. He is very technologically savvy and has demonstrated innovative approaches to challenges in our business. Mike will help keep us moving forward during this incredibly exciting era for Trojan Athletics and we welcome Mike and Elise to the AU family. Go Trojans."

Sanders recently wrapped up his second year at the helm of the Wolves' Athletic Communications following a six-year stint as the Director of Social and Digital Media at Limestone. While at Limestone he served as the primary contact for women's soccer, men's & women's cross country, men's and women's wrestling, men's and women's track & field and softball, and was responsible for Limestone Athletics social media and digital media content as well as serving as the primary statistician for football and men's and women's basketball.

Sanders began his career in the media relations department at Limestone as a public address announcer for soccer and swimming, as well as providing live statistics and results for all Limestone swim meets. He then expanded his responsibilities to providing the voice of in-game promotions at Saints basketball games.

A two-year member of the Limestone swim team, Sanders was a four-time All Bluegrass Mountain Conference honoree as well as breaking the team record in the 1000-yard freestyle during his sophomore campaign.

Prior to coming to Limestone, Sanders was an assistant, and later a head coach, for the Hedingham Sharks swim team. While with the Sharks he coached multiple city league champions and helped to move the team up two divisions within the league. He was also an assistant coach for the New Wave Swim Team in Raleigh, N.C. for three years. During his tenure with the Wave, Sanders was in charge of teaching technique to swimmers of all ages as well as coordinating the programming for their annual spring clinic.

"I am truly excited to join the Anderson family during this exciting time of growth in the department," said Sanders. "Walking around campus it is clear that AU is poised to continue their upward trajectory both academically and athletically and starting football next fall feels like just the beginning!"

Sanders is a regular at Fluor Field, while helping staff Greenville Drive baseball games and in addition to working with the Conference Carolinas Branding Committee, he has served on the College Sports Communicators' (CoSIDA) Convention Planning Committee, as well as their Publications and Digital Design Committee.
