Trojans Sweep Weekly SAC Volleyball Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson University setter Emily Conlin has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist of the Week, while outside hitter Marissa Mitter has earned AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office, Tuesday afternoon.

The duo helped lead AU to another unblemished week, as the Trojans blanked Queens last Tuesday and handed No. 21 and previously unbeaten Wingate its' first loss of the season on Homecoming Weekend. Both have been instrumental in the Trojans' school-record 13-match win streak, with AU going unbeaten at home this season and has not lost at the Abney Center since Oct. 18, 2016.

Conlin, a native of Glendale, Ariz., has consistently ranked either first or second in the league in assists and assists per set through the first seven weeks of the season and handed out 95 assists (13.57/set) in the two wins, while coming up with 12 digs, three service aces and three blocks. The sophomore narrowly missed her 11th double-double of the season with a match-high 45 assists and came up with eight digs in the sweep of Queens and followed up with 50 assists, four digs and three aces in the four-set win over Wingate.

Conlin leads the SAC and is sixth in the nation in assists per set (11.87/set) and also paces the conference in service aces on the season, while ranking second in total assists and aces per set. She has dished out 40+ assists on 10 occasions, while reaching the 50+ assist plateau three times.

The honor was Conlin's first of the season and third of her career.

Mitter earned AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week accolades for the second time this month after knocking down 29 kills (4.14/set) and recording 17 digs (2.43/set) on the week. The Redondo Beach, Calif., native notched her ninth double-double of the campaign behind 10 kills and 11 digs in the midweek win over Queens and led all players with 19 kills – her second-highest tally of the season – and added six digs in the upset of the Bulldogs.

The outside hitter has reached double-figure kills 17 times this season and leads the SAC in kills, while ranking second in kills per set (3.81/set), points and points per set. Mitter has recorded 1,080 career kills and passed Michelle Yarborough (1999-2002) for ninth place in the school record books earlier this season.

The Trojans open a three-match road swing Friday night at Newberry. First-serve versus the Wolves is slated for 7 p.m. at Eleazer Arena.
