Trojan Volleyball Tabbed Fourth in Final NCAA Southeast Region Weekly Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Despite winning three matches and claiming the South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship last weekend, the Anderson University volleyball team slipped one spot to fourth in the final NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings, as released Wednesday afternoon.

The poll included five Peach Belt Conference teams, four South Atlantic Conference schools and one team from Conference Carolinas. Wingate (25-2), which is receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Poll, is atop the poll again this week. The Bulldogs are the second seed in this week's South Atlantic Conference Championship and will meet third-seeded Queens, Friday afternoon.

Flagler (22-3), which took over the fourth spot a week ago and is also receiving votes in the latest AVCA Poll, won three matches last week and jumped to second in the weekly poll. USC Aiken, which won a pair of PBC matches last week, slipped to the fourth spot in the rankings with a 24-4 overall record.

Anderson (27-3), which claimed the regular-season title last week on the strength of a school-record 22-match win streak, is fourth this week. Georgia College (21-6), which is hosting the PBC Tournament, split a pair of decisions and moved up one spot to fifth, while Queens (21-7) went 2-1 since the last rankings and holds the No. 6 slot with a 19-6 overall record.

Carson-Newman (16-13) is at No. 7 for the second straight week, while Augusta (17-14) lost its only contest last week and remained eighth. Lander (15-11) is ninth, while Tusculum (15-16) lost twice last week and dropped out of the poll. Barton (23-7), which is from Conference Carolinas, rounded out the 10 teams in the poll.

Eight teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with five more at-large selections.

The NCAA D-II Tournament selections are scheduled to be unveiled on Monday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. on NCAA.com

The Trojans are slated to meet Carson-Newman, Friday night in the semifinals of the South Atlantic Conference Championship. First-serve versus the host Eagles is set for 6:30 p.m. in Jefferson City, Tenn.
