HARROGATE, Tenn. - Lincoln Memorial scored a goal in each half to snap Anderson's five-match league win streak as the Railsplitters defeated AU, 2-0, in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon at the LMU Soccer Field.
Anderson slipped to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in the conference, while Lincoln Memorial improved to 7-6-2 overall and 3-3-1 in league play.
LMU senior Leanne Reid gave the Lady Railsplitters a 1-0 advantage with her first goal of the season in the 20th minute and while Anderson's Joelle Purinton and Allie Waters each posted attempts less than eight minutes later, the Trojans were unable to place a shot on goal in the opening half.
The Lady Railsplitters held the one-goal advantage until the 78:25 mark, when Brittany Jenkins capitalized on an open net following a rebound and boosted the LMU edge to 2-0.
LMU outshot the Trojans, 16-9, and recorded a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Anderson steps out of conference play for its final regular-season road contest at North Georgia College on Wednesday, before returning home to host Wingate Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Dahlonega, Ga.
