Lady Trojans Get First Victory

LAURINBURG, N.C. -- Jessica Morris scored nine minutes into overtime off an assist from Ginny Cates to give Anderson College a 4-3 victory over St. Andrews Presbyterian in a CVAC match Saturday afternoon. Anderson, 1-6 overall and 1-1 in the CVAC, trailed 3-2 with 20 minutes remaining, but Crystal Gaffney scored the equalizer at 80:22 to send the match to overtime. St. Andrews scored first on a goal by Tiffany Friedl just 17 seconds into the match. But Anderson answered with goals from Megan Delancey and Cates to take a 2-1 lead. Krissten Zimmerman scored the first of her two goals with just 37 seconds remaining in the first half to tie the match at 2. St. Andrews outshot Anderson, 12-10. Anderson goalkeeper Meghan Woodall made seven saves to pick up her first victory. The loss drops St. Andrews to 2-7, 1-1. Season Statistics
