Women's Soccer Drops Opener To L-R

HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (1-0-1) picked up its first win of the 2004 campaign Tuesday afternoon with a 2-0 shutout of Anderson College (0-1) at Bears Field. Sophomore forward Devon Wilt scored the first goal of the game, and the first for Lenoir-Rhyne this season, on a cross from senior forward Julie Dodds at the 27:14 mark on the match. L-R made it 2-0 shortly after halftime (51:08) when Dodds stole the ball and connected on a one versus one. Dodds finished with three points for the match while freshman Nicole Ley registered her second consecutive shutout in goal for the Bears to go along with five saves. Meghan Woodall, Anderson's goalkeeper, tallied nine saves despite the loss. Anderson's next match is Friday at Georgia College and State University. Season Statistics
