No. 7 Women's Golf Sits in Second by One Stroke at NCAA South Region Preview

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – In a field that features the best of the South Region, the No. 7 Anderson University women's golf team sits alone in second place in the tournament, held at the Cleveland Country Club on Monday, September 18.

The top-five teams are each separated by a stroke at each place with Lynn leading the way currently at +15 for the day while the Trojans sit at +16. Lee, Nova Southeastern and NAIA powerhouse Dalton State make up the rest of the top-five.

Junior Zoey Iglesias (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) sits atop the individual standings for the Trojans as she was able to card rounds of 72-74 to sit +2 for the tournament and currently sits in a tie for eighth in the field. Sophomore Kennedy Gooding (Lexington, S.C.) bounced back from an opening round 75 to turn in just a 73 in the second round to sit at +4 and in a tie for 11th.

Sophomore Paige Paolucci (Blythewood, S.C.) shot a stellar round of 73 to start off the day and followed that up with a 77 in the afternoon to sit in a tie for 18th in the field with a +6. Fellow sophomore Kennedy McGaha (Honea Path, S.C.) sits just one stroke behind her in a tie for 25th overall as her second-round 72 kept her right at +7 for the opening day of action. Senior Jessica Rathbone (Montpelier, Va.) is within striking distance of the leaders as well as she shot a +9 for the first day.

The Trojans will look to take home their second straight tournament victory as they battle for positioning on the leaderboard with the third round teeing off at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
