Trojans Earn No. 2 Seed In South Atlantic Conference Tournament And Will Be One Of The Host Sites

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson University softball has earned the No. 2 seed in the South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship and will be one of the host sites, along with the top-seeded Wingate Bulldogs, which will begin with the opening round on April 26-28, and concluding with a best-of-three series on May 3-4. 

Wingate won the SAC regular season title after posting a 22-2 overall record. Despite being pre-season No. 6, Anderson finished the regular season with a 19-3 record placing them in the No. 2 slot. Carson-Newman posted a 16-6 conference record to receive the No. 3 seed thanks to a sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday. Lenoir-Rhyne finished the season with a 16-8 record giving them the No. 4 spot, while Tusculum finished with a 15-9 SAC record to earn the No. 5 seed. Newberry, Lincoln Memorial and Catawba ended the season with identical 11-13 marks. Newberry won the tiebreaker thanks to them owning a victory over top-seeded Wingate to garner the No. 6 seed. LMU becomes the 7-seed thanks to a sweep of the Indians who will enter the tournament as the No. 8 seed.

The double elimination 2024 SAC Softball Championship will begin on April 26-28, with seeds 1, 4, 5, and 8 playing at the Wingate Softball Complex in Wingate, N.C., and seeds 2, 3, 6, and 7 heading to the Softball Complex in Anderson, S.C. The two remaining teams after the opening round will meet for a best-of-three series at the highest remaining seed on May 3-4 to determine the 2024 SAC Softball Champion.
