Men’s Cross Country Captures 16th at NCAA Southeast Regional Championships

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Led by freshman Mason Hazel's 12th-place finish, the Anderson men's cross country team placed 16th at the 2014 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Montevallo on Saturday, at the University of Montevallo Cross Country Course.

South Atlantic Conference Champion Mars Hill claimed the team title, with Mount Olive finishing second and Queens University of Charlotte taking the third spot.

North Greenville's Ahmad Nesbitt won individual honors, while Clayton State junior Job Kemboi finishing second.

The Trojans moved up one spot from last year's 17th-place finish at the Southeast Regionals, with Hazel being the first freshman to cross the line in the 10K event, as the Summerville, S.C., native finished 12th in a time of 32:55.43 and earned All-region accolades. Graduate student Westley Wilson (35:04.48) placed 63rd, while sophomores Michael Burch (36:56.82) and Ben Boerma (37:21.42) finished 122nd and 130th, respectively.

Sophomore Ned Kennedy took the 144th spot in a time of 38:13.65, with senior Joshua Visi-Clark (38:18.81) just behind in 145th.
