Men’s Cross Country Finishes Third at Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational

NEWTON, N.C. - In its final tune-up before the conference championship, the Anderson University men's cross country team finished third at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational, Saturday morning at Southside Park.

"We had a really good finish considering we didn't have two of our guys," said Anderson head coach Randy Greer. "To finish third was a pretty good accomplishment."

The 8k event saw host Lenoir-Rhyne earn the team title, with Tusculum taking the second spot, just in front of Anderson. Mars Hill, Catawba and Lees-McRae rounded out the six-team field.

Graduate student Westley Wilson paced the Trojans for the second straight outing, crossing the line in seventh in a time of 27:40.65. Senior Joshua Visi-Clark claimed 24th in a time of 28:51.95, with sophomore Michael Burch (29:12.05) taking the 28th spot.

Sophomores Jesse Patrick (29:30.32) and Ned Kennedy (29:32.93) crossed the line in 30th and 31st, respectively.

Anderson will be back in action on Nov. 8 at the South Atlantic Conference Championships in Salisbury, N.C.
