Cross Country Gets Back on the Course at Charlotte Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. - Following a layoff of nearly two weeks, the Anderson University women's and men's cross country teams are scheduled to compete in the Charlotte Invitational on Friday at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C.

The women's 6K is slated to start at 6 p.m., with the men's 8K scheduled for 6:40 p.m.

Friday marks the fourth consecutive season that the Trojans have competed in the event. Last season, Olivia Gardner captured the 20th spot to pace the AU women's team to a 10th-place finish at the event, while Ben Boerma claimed 37th en route to leading the men's squad to a ninth-place finish.

On the women's side, Sydney Hazel finished in 23rd place a year ago, while Bari Robinson captured 47th. Grace Gerlock finished 66th in her first-ever outing wearing the Black and Gold.

With Boerma pacing the men's squad last season, Joshua Visi-Clark captured 61st and Jesse Patrick placed 66th. Ned Kennedy crossed the line in 69th, Westley Wilson rounded out the Trojan contingent in the Gold Division in 74th.

Gardner also paced the Trojans two weeks ago at the Furman Classic, capturing 19th competing in a field with nine D-I schools. Freshman Alex Dixon brought home 40th and sophomore Amber Worthy claimed 59th. Sophomores Bari Robinson and Mia Swiersz crossed the line in 61st and 67th, respectively. Sophomore Grace Gerlock garnered 88th, while freshman Allison Halperin was just behind, taking 89th. Another newcomer, Taylor Morris, finished 101st and redshirt junior Devan Fisher placed 106th.

In Greenville, newcomer Mason Hazel claimed the 35th spot, while graduate student Westley Wilson earned 50th. Boerma was 63rd, with fellow sophomore Ned Kennedy crossing the line in 72nd. Sophomore Jesse Patrick collected the 79th slot, with senior Joshua Visi-Clark garnering 80th. Sophomore Michael Burch rounded out the Trojan contingent in 82nd.
