Men's Soccer Looks To Extend Win Streak Against Newberry

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's soccer team is preparing to travel to Newberry, S.C. on Wednesday (Oct. 13) to take on the Newberry Wolves.

The Trojans enter Wednesday's match with a record of 7-2-1, currently riding a four-game winning streak. Anderson is coming off a thrilling 2-1 double overtime win over Carson-Newman on Saturday (Oct. 9) courtesy of a goal from Bar Galanti, who found the back of the net off a corner kick. Alexandre Cox-Ashwood scored as well in the match for his ninth goal of the season, which ranks him second in the SAC.

Newberry will bring a 2-9 record into the match, including a 2-4 clip in the SAC. The Wolves are coming off a high scoring 5-4 win over Tusculum on Saturday, with the second conference win coming against Lincoln Memorial 3-2. Before the season, Newberry was tabbed to finish 11th in the conference after a 1-6-1 record in an abbreviated 2021 spring season. The Trojans swept the season series by scores of 1-0, and 4-2. Noah Vezzu leads the Wolves with two goals, including 10 different players with a goal each. Goalkeeper Pablo Cubas is second in the SAC with 53 saves.

The Trojans and Wolves will square off on Wednesday (Oct. 13) at the Smith Road Complex on the campus of Newberry College. Game time is set for 7:30 PM, with video and live stats available at www.autrojans.com.
