Cox-Ashwood and Ortiz Named to United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Teams

ANDERSON, S.C. – Alexandre Cox-Ashwood and Agustin Ortiz of the Anderson University men's soccer team were both named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region teams on Friday (Dec. 17). Cox-Ashwood, a Biochemistry major, was named to the first team, while Ortiz, a Business Administration major, earned a spot on the third team. On Dec. 7, both players were named to the United Soccer Coaches Southeast All-Region teams for their accomplishments on the pitch.

Cox-Ashwood, a senior from Wittenheim, France, finished the season with 13 goals, which was tied for the second most in the SAC. He earned SAC Astroturf Offensive Player of the Week, and United Soccer Coaches National Player of the week honors in September. At the conclusion of the season, he was named to the All-SAC First Team and D2CCA All-Region First Team.

Ortiz, a graduate student from Mendoza, Argentina, has been an anchor in the Anderson midfield this season. He finished the season with three goals and three assists, including the assist on Harry Ward's game winning goal against Queens in the SAC Quarterfinals on Saturday (Nov. 6). At the conclusion of the season, he was named to the All-SAC First Team and D2CCA All-Region Second Team.
