Trojans Pound Emmanuel, 11-0

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson University men's soccer team got four goals from Jordan Kelly and two goals from Jon Scott on its way to an 11-0 rout of Emmanuel in a non-conference match Thursday night at Smethers Field. "We played a lot of guys and we got a chance to give some guys some rest," said Anderson head coach Rob Miller. "This was a good match for our confidence. It was good for us to score some goals. We just relaxed and knocked the ball around. After all of the tight matches we have had, we needed a match like this." The Trojans set school records for goals scored in a single match and assists (10) in a single match. Kelly, a freshman midfielder from London, England, is the first Anderson player to score four goals in a single match since Anderson moved to NCAA Division II in 1999. He also set a school record for points in a single match (10). The Trojans, 6-9 overall, started slowly and Emmanuel developed a couple of chances early. But after Kelly scored his first goal at 10:13, the flood gates opened on the visiting Lions. Kelly scored three more goals in the next 26 minutes to give Anderson a 4-0 lead. Starting with Kelly's third goal at the 34:08 mark, the Trojans scored seven goals in a span of 10:26. Scott, a senior midfielder from Spartanburg, scored two goals in the final six minutes of the first half at 39:56 and 43:36 and assisted on another goal. Anderson's other first half goals were scored by Lahnden Onger (38:37), Michael Zion (41:49), and Stephon Henry (44:34). In the second half, Anderson scaled back its attack and rested some of its starters. The Trojans did manage to score two more goals -- Dave Taylor at 84:57 and Douglas Nyame at 88:12. Nyame, Onger, and Kelly all finished the match with two assists apiece. The loss drops Emmanuel to 3-11. 2006 Anderson Men's Soccer Statistics
