Anderson Beats USC Aiken In Wild Shootout

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University scored three goals in the final 22 minutes to beat USC Aiken 4-3 in a non-conference match Saturday night at Smethers Field. Anderson, 1-0 overall, scored the only goal of the first half when Lahnden Onger took a pass from Jon Scott and scored at the 42:36 mark. The second half was a wide-open offensive show as both teams scored three goals. USC Aiken tied the match at 55:59 when Reuben Ojeyinka off an assist from Georgi Peev. The Pacers took a 2-1 lead at the 60:36 mark when Alex Lewis fired a shot off a restart from 40 yards that skipped past AU goalkeeper Andy Barth. Anderson tied the match three minutes later when Stephon Henry scored off Scott's second assist of the match. The Trojans took a 3-2 lead at the 67:28 mark when Jaime Henao scored on a one-timer off a deflection. The Pacers tied the match at 3 at 68:32 when Ojeyinka pushed a short pass to Tim Constanzo, who found the back of the net. Anderson capped the wild-scoring second half at the 80:19 mark. Jordan Kelly chipped a pass on a restart that Douglas Nyame headed into the Pacer net for the game winner. Anderson had 14 shots while USC Aiken managed 13. Barth made five saves in the Anderson net.
