Trojans Fall Twice on the Road at No. 8 Lincoln Memorial

Harrogate, Tenn. -Anderson University Softball was swept for the first time this season, dropping two games at South Atlantic Conference opponent Lincoln Memorial. The Trojans lost game one, 7-0, and dropped the nightcap, 5-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Dorothy Neely Field. Anderson slips to 24-8 overall and 12-6 in SAC action, while the Railsplitters move to 27-4 overall and 15-3 in conference play.

"Today we were outplayed mentally, as well as physically and it's not going to get any easier the rest of the way," said head coach Tommy Hewitt.

"It's getting late in the season and we need our leaders to step up," added Hewitt.

Lincoln Memorial scored three runs in the first inning and four more runs in the sixth inning. The Railsplitter's capitalized on three miscues and 11 hits.

Freshman Laken Maxwell (8-4) suffered the loss for the Black and Gold.

KEY TROJANS

-Gracie Williams, Kayson Boatner and Taylor Faircloth each recorded a hit for AU.

Game 2 Summary

Despite out hitting the Railsplitter's 9-3, LMU was able to produce more runs resulting in the game two win.

Anderson gave up three runs in the first inning and lone runs in the second and third frames. The Black and Gold managed a run in the sixth inning on junior Jessica Neadow's RBI single, scoring junior Gracie Williams.

Senior Harlie Duncan (11-2) gave up just three hits, while striking out six.

KEY TROJANS

-Boatner, Hanna Whitaker and Jessica Neadow each collected two hits, with Morgan Charter, Faircloth and Williams claiming the final three singles.

UP NEXT

Anderson will travel to SAC opponent Coker on Saturday. First-Pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 2 pm.
