Anderson, S.C. - Anderson University Softball split its home doubleheader with South Atlantic Conference opponent Lenoir-Rhyne, losing game one, 6-4, and winning the nightcap, 2-1, on Saturday evening at the AU Softball Complex. The Trojans move to 18-4 overall and 6-2 in SAC play, while the Bears move to 8-4 overall and 4-2 in conference action.
"I was real disappointed in losing the first game for our players," said head coach Tommy Hewitt. "They fought hard with lots of energy and enthusiasm, but we just couldn't pull it out."
"Game two we picked it up didn't quit and if it's possible to be happy with a split we all are," said Hewitt.
"This team is a talented team and better things are coming," added Hewitt.
Game 1 Summary

Lenoir-Rhyne claimed a 3-1 in the third inning with the Trojans rallying back in the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead. The Bears were able to produce three runs in the sixth and hold the Trojans over their final six outs to take game one. Senior Harlie Duncan (8-1) suffered the tough loss, after giving up six hits and striking out seven batters.
KEY TROJANS
-Kayson Boatner went 2-for-3 with a SAC fly and RBI.
-Matti Cantrell batted 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

KEY TROJANS
The Black and Gold used four hits and three errors to produce two runs in its win over the Bears. Anderson scored first in the fifth inning, after a walk, single and throwing error with Lenoir-Rhyne answering back in the top half of the sixth inning to tie the game at 1-1. AU's Morgan Charter roped a ball over the left field fence to what proved to be the game winning run, 2-1. Freshman Laken Maxwell (8-2) pitched a one-hit, nine strike out complete game.
KEY TROJANS
-Hannah Whitaker batted 2-for-3 with a double.
-Charter batted 1-for-3 with a home run, RBI and run scored.
