Pfeiffer Sweeps Anderson In Softball

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Allison Braswell pitched a two-hit shutout in the second game to lead Pfeiffer to a 5-0 victory and a sweep of Anderson University in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Smethers Field. In the first game, Dacia Ijames scattered seven hits and drove in three runs to lead the Falcons to a 7-3 victory. The sweep improves Pfeiffer to 22-19 overall and 8-8 in the conference. Anderson now stands at 18-16, 9-7. In the first game, Pfeiffer scored single runs in the third inning, fourth inning, and fifth inning then hit Anderson with a three spot in the sixth. Ijames was 3-for-4 with an RBI single in the fifth and a two-run single in the sixth. Martina Bullard was 4-for-4 for the Falcons with a solo home run in the third and a run-scoring single in the sixth. Ijames pitched a complete game for the Falcons. She struck out four, walked just one, and stranded seven. Pfeiffer had 11 hits in the first game, while Anderson managed seven. Lora Daniel was 2-for-3 for Anderson in the first game. The second game was all Braswell as she turned in a dominating performance. She struck out seven and did not issue a walk. Anderson did not have a runner reach second base. Pfeiffer scored three runs in the second on an RBI double by Megan McNeil and run-scoring singles by Stephanie Bethea and Jaimee Cassidy. The Falcons added two more runs in the third on a run-scoring double by Stephanie Brandt and an RBI single by Bullard. Pfeiffer finished the second game with 12 hits. McNeil was 3-for-4 in the second game for the Falcons. Anderson travels to Belmont Abbey on Wednesday.
