Softball Team Sweeps St. Andrews

LAURINBURG, N.C. -- The Anderson University softball team swept St. Andrews Presbyterian in two extra-inning games -- 6-5 and 5-4 -- Sunday afternoon. The sweep increases Anderson's current winning streak to six and improves the Lady Trojans to 6-6 overall and 2-0 in Conference Carolinas. The two losses drop St. Andrews to 0-10, 0-2. Anderson won both games of the doubleheader in the eighth inning. In the first game, Elisa Sebastyan hit a two-run homer and Lora Daniel had an RBI double in the eighth. Anderson finished the first game with 10 hits. Kinsley Durham had two singles and one RBI, and Melissa Carmichael had a run-scoring double for Anderson. In the second game, Daniel started the eighth on second base. After Casey King singled and stole second, Samantha Moorhead provided a two-run single. Kayla Thrasher hit a two-run homer in the first inning, and Mickie Brown had a single and a double.
