Softball Team Splits With Emmanuel

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University split a non-conference double-header with Emmanuel College Thursday afternoon at Smethers Field. The Lady Trojans, 7-7 overall, won the first game 7-6 with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but lost the second game, 10-3. In game one, Emmanuel got a two-run homer from Caitlin Bryan in the seventh to take a 6-5 lead. But Anderson rallied in the bottom of the seventh. After Kayla Thrasher was hit by a pitch and Lora Daniel walked, Kasey King reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases with no outs. Kinsley Durham followed with a game-tying single to left. With one out, Cameron White provided a single for the game winner. Katie Van Gieson earned the win for the Lady Trojans, while Heather Vaughn took the loss. The Lady Trojans were led by Durham who was 2-for-4 with two RBI. In game two, the Lady Lions used three home runs, by Kayla McNeal, Bryan and Tiffany Creason, combined with ten total hits to beat the Lady Trojans. The Lady Trojans managed just three runs on two hits, both of which were home runs. Thrasher had a two-run blast in the first and King added a solo home run in the second. Amy Alley earned the win for the Lady Lions, and Donya Cobb took the loss for the Lady Trojans.
