Men's Cross Country Finishes Fifth in NCAA Southeast Regional

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Anderson University men's cross-country team finished fifth place in the NCAA Division II Southeast XC Regional on Saturday (Nov. 6) with a team score of 124 and a total team time of 2:41:06.

Daniel Similton (31:57.3), Spain Vaughan (31:58.4), and Philip Quillen (32:00.5) paced the Trojans by finishing in 19th, 20th, and 21st. Patrick Berlejung came in 26th with a mark of 32:10.4, while Jonathan Roberts was close behind at 32:59.9 to finish 45th. Ben Clark (34:22.7) and David Mahnke (34:52.3) were other notable finishers for Anderson in the 10k, a total distance of 6.21 miles.

"Our men put it all out on the line today and we walked away fifth in the region for the year," said coach Kevin Eagle. "It is not exactly what we had in mind going into the season, but I am very proud of how much our men's team has developed throughout the course of the season."

This wraps up the season for men's cross-country. Indoor track and field season is scheduled to kick off on December 3rd as the team will split up for the Clemson Opener, and the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Michigan.
