2021 Cross Country Schedule Released

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's and women's cross-country team has officially released their 2021 schedule.

In an abbreviated 2020 season, the Trojans combined for three first-place team finishes, two coming from the women at the Royals Challenge and 8th Annual UNG XC Invitational. While the men won the UNG XC Invitational led by Ben Clark taking second in the 8k, third place by Philip Quillen, and Thomas Sutcliffe coming in fourth place. For the women, they had four runners finish in the top-seven, paced by senior Olivia Rish.

The 2021 schedule features six meets, with three in September and three more in October. The Trojans open the season on Sept. 4 in Salisbury, N.C. for the Fleet Fleet XC Invitational, followed by the Converse Regional Preview on Sept. 18 in Spartanburg, S.C. Anderson will travel to Charlotte, N.C. twice for both the Queen City Invite (Sept. 24) and Royals Challenge (Oct. 8). Before the SAC XC Championships on Oct. 23, the Trojans will wrap the season up in Romeoville, IL at the Lewis Crossover.

Head Coach Kevin Eagle on the 2021 schedule:

"We are excited to get back to a normal competition year. For this upcoming season, we are competing on a few new courses that we have never run before. As a runner, you are always excited to run on new terrain and see different schools. Catawba College and Lewis University will be a first for us. The remainder of the schedule are courses that we are very familiar with such as McAlpine Park in Charlotte, NC and Milliken Research Center in Spartanburg, SC. With our SAC & NCAA Regional Championships being at these places this year, we plan to compete on them throughout the regular season so that we are prepared for them when it truly matters.

"As for expectations, our goal for both teams is to qualify for the NCAA National Championships. Our women have made of two of the last three years while our men have narrowly missed out the last few years. With a talented group like we have for 2021, I expect both squads to be in contention for a national title bid come November."
