Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth in SAC XC Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Anderson University men's cross-country team finished in fourth place at the SAC XC Championships in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday (Oct. 23) at McApline Creek Greenway, hosted by Queens University.

The Trojans combined for a team time of 2:05:20 and a score of 87, tying with Catawba. Freshman Spain Vaughan led the way for Anderson by finishing in 12th with a time of 24:46.0. Daniel Similton came in 16th by running a 24:56.1, while Philip Quillen (24:56.5) and Patrick Berlejung (24:57.3) came in 17th and 18th place respectively.

Jonathan Roberts was 31st with a time of 25:44, and David Mahnke paced close behind at 25:58.3 to finish 34th. Ben Clark (26:04.3), Ty Nelson (26:25), and David Williams (27:21.9) were other notable finishers for the Trojans.

"We had a lot of great individual performances to go along with several personal bests," said coach Kevin Eagle. "We have two weeks to clean up a few mistakes as we gear up for NCAA Regionals."

Freshman Spain Vaughan was named to the All-Conference Second Team, and the SAC All-Freshmen team which includes the top-five freshmen. Daniel Similton, Philip Quillen, and Patrick Berlejung were named to the Third Team All-SAC.

The NCAA regionals are scheduled for November 6th in Spartanburg, S.C. Live results can be found at www.autrojans.com.
