WINGATE, N.C. - Paced by sophomore Nigel Reynolds' ninth-place
finish, the Anderson men's cross country team notched a third-place
finish at the 2010 Food Lion SAC Cross Country Championship
Saturday afternoon at the Wingate University Cross Country
Course.
Reynolds (26:16) earned second-team all conference honors with his
performance in the 8k event, while freshman Kyle Koby (26:30) was
named to both the second team all-conference squad and to the
all-freshman team after garnering 13th place.
Fellow freshmen Parks Edwards (26:37) and Will Belue (26:43)
were also named to the all-freshman team after finishing 16th and
17th, respectively, while newcomer Deniz Hays (26:44) narrowly
missed earning the same honor with his 18th-place finish.
Sophomore Alex Pena (27:02) garnered 21st, with sophomore Matt
Shaffer crossing the finish line in 22nd place.
Freshman Matt Imes (28:28) and sophomores Ryne Welch (28:49) and
Drew Mahaffey (28:51) rounded out the Trojan contingent in 42nd,
47th and 49th
Next up for the team are the Southeastern Regional Championships on Nov. 20 in Charlotte, N.C.
