ORANGEBURG, S.C. - The Anderson men's cross country team claimed garnered seven of the first 10 spots to claim first place at the Harrier Open hosted by Claflin University Friday afternoon at the Oaks.
Sophomore Nigel Reynolds paced the Trojans in a time of 19:25, finishing just four seconds behind Benedict College's Dickson Toroitich, who won the 6k event with a course record 19:21. Will Belue (19:34), freshman Kyle Koby (19:36), Alex Pena (19:36), Matt Shaffer (19:39), freshman Parks Edwards (19:40) and Deniz Hay (19:41) all notched top-10 times.
Freshman Matt Imes (20:50), Drew Mahaffey (20:57) and Ryne Welch (21:35) finished 13th, 14th and 15th. Anderson is idle next week, but returns to action on Nov. 6 at the South Atlantic Conference championships, hosted by Wingate.
