Men’s Tennis Earns Postseason Intercollegiate Tennis Association Accolades

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's tennis team and senior Ignacio Bidegain earn postseason accolades from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), released by the association on Tuesday morning.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the 2020 Division II Men ITA Regional Awards. Despite the shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ITA recognizes the hard work on and off the court from our deserving student athletes. The Division II Awards include: Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship, ITA Rookie of the Year, ITA Player to Watch, ITA Most Improved Senior, ITA Senior Player of the Year, and ITA Community Service Award.

The Black and Gold was awarded the 2020 ITA Community Service Award. Under the leadership of the Director of Tennis, Joey Eskridge, the Trojans engage in multiple community outreach opportunities throughout the school year.

Bidegain posted an 11-1 overall singles record and 12-1 doubles slate, while helping the Trojans to an impressive 13-2 overall record. The native of Buenos Aires, was recently named to the ITA DII All-American team and was named as the Anderson Male Athlete of the Year.

The national winners of the awards will be announced next Tuesday at 8 AM PDT during a special virtual awards ceremony. The awards ceremony can be viewed on the ITA's TwitterFacebook, and Youtube.

  • ITA Community Service Award Honorable Mention: Young Harris College, University of North Georgia
