Men’s Tennis Out Duels Tusculum; 5-2

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Anderson University men's tennis earned three of its four singles victories in three sets, including a pair of tiebreaker wins, as the Trojans defeated Tusculum University 5-2 in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action Wednesday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The Trojans (12-2, 2-1 SAC) rallied from down a set in two of their singles wins over the Pioneers (6-3, 1-1 SAC).

Anderson claimed the doubles point by winning two of the three matches.

In singles, 23rd-ranked Ignacio Bidegain came back for a 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) win over Akinpetide at flight one, and Adam Kush rallied to win 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) at flight three over Huck. At flight five, the Trojans' Aaron Cabo held on for a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over Manuel Guedes de Almeida. In the final match, Dayton won 8-2 over Gabriel Yaguar at flight six.

"Guys played a great match today and showed how great they compete on the road against a tough Tusculum team", said head coach Joey Eskridge. " Ignacio saved four match points at number one singles to win 7-6 in the third. Adam Kush at number three won 7-6 in the third as well having to fight back from losing the first set. Aaron Cabo at five singles also won in the third set to clinch the match for us giving us a 4-0 lead. Senior Jeffrey Dayton also played a great match win 8-2 in a pro set at six singles."

"Overall great match for the boys and I am very proud of them for their hard work", added Eskridge.

The Trojans will travel to nonconference opponent Augusta on Sunday. First-serve is slated for 2 pm.
