Bidegain Named to the 2020 Intercollegiate Tennis Association DII Men’s All-America Team

ANDERSON, S.C. – On the heels of earning one of Anderson University Athletics top-awards (Male Athlete of the Year), senior men's tennis standout Ignacio Bidegain was named to the 2020 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II Men's All-America Team.

"I am so happy and proud of Ignacio earning All American," said Director of Tennis Joey Eskridge. "He definitely deserves the recognition for all of his hard work over the course of the last four years. Ignacio has etched his name in the Anderson Tennis book of greats."

"Congratulations Ignacio!," added Eskridge. "We have enjoyed watching you grow as a player and as person while at Anderson University."

Bidegain was instrumental in the men's tennis team's tremendous success this past season, helping lead the Trojans to a 13-2 record before the season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The senior was tabbed third in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Region rankings after dropping just one decision at the No. 1 singles' spot – to the top-ranked player in the region – and winning 11 singles' decisions. The duo of Bidegain and fellow senior Preston Morpeth went 12-1 in combined doubles action this season, including going an undefeated 5-0 in the No. 1 doubles slot.

A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Bidegain earned Preseason First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference honors and was named SAC Player of the Week after the Black and Gold's final week of play during the shortened season. He has been a First-Team All-Conference selection on the singles' side throughout his collegiate career and has garnered national rankings for his stellar play.
