Trojans Ranked No. 1 in NCAA Southeast Region

INDIANAPOLIS - With the first NCAA Regional rankings released on Wednesday, Anderson University men's soccer has been slotted in the No. 1 position in the Southeast Region, consisting of teams from the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas.

Despite having a 9-3-2 overall record, key points against nationally ranked Young Harris and Flagler set the Trojans apart from the rest of the region. AU is joined by SAC members Queens at No. 4 and Wingate in the No. 7 spot as the top six teams from the Southeast Region will earn berths in the NCAA Tournament.

The Saints, who played AU to a scoreless draw earlier in the season, is ranked No. 2, while Lander is a spot ahead of Queens at No. 3. Following the Royals is Limestone, the lone member of Conference Carolinas, at No. 5, while Clayton State is slotted in the No. 6 spot. Rounding out the poll is Francis Marion in the eighth position.

With the No. 1 ranking in the hand, the poll excludes AU's most recent result at Brevard.

Anderson looks to remain at the top spot and seeks two wins in its final two matchups of the regular season, beginning on Saturday at Wingate. Kickoff from the Tar Heel State is set for 7:30 p.m.
