Nottingham Named AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson University junior guard Quin Nottingham has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday morning.

Nottingham scored 13 points over the final 86 seconds, including the tying 3-pointer with 26 seconds remaining, and the buzzer-beating 75-foot game-winning shot, to lead the Trojans back from an eight-point deficit with less than four minutes on the clock, as Anderson defeated Carson-Newman, 75-72, last Saturday afternoon.

The Champaign, Ill., native finished with a game-high 28 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field and sank five 3-pointers on the afternoon – four during the final frantic comeback. He was 7-of-8 from the charity stripe, pulled down six rebounds and swiped a game-high three steals, as the Trojans stretched their win streak to four games – their first since the 2014-15 season – with AU winning at Holt Fieldhouse for the since the 2011-12 campaign.

Earlier last week, Nottingham helped lead the Trojans to an 86-82 upset win over No. 17 Queens – AU's second victory over a top-25 team this season. He led all scorers with 22 points, including 16 in the second half, and pulled down eight rebounds. He was 8-of-10 from the free throw line on the night after clinching the win by sinking two free throws with 5.7 seconds on the clock.

For the week, Nottingham averaged 25 points, seven rebounds and 2.5 steals, while going 14-of-31 (45.2%) from the field and was 15-of-18 (83.3%) from the free throw line.

He leads the league in scoring, at 20.8 points per game and ranks eighth in free throw accuracy, at 86.1 percent.

The weekly honor is the first for Nottingham and the third for a Trojan men's basketball player this season.

The Trojans will get back on the hardwood, Wednesday night, when Newberry invades the Abney Center. Tip-off versus the Wolves is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
