Women’s Cross Country Slips Three Spots to Sixth in Latest USTFCCCA Southeast Region Poll

NEW ORLEANS – Following a fourth-place finish at last weekend's South Atlantic Conference Championships, the Anderson University women's cross country team slipped from third place into the sixth spot in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Southeast Region Rankings, as released by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Queens, the two-time NCAA Southeast Region defending champions, won its fourth consecutive SAC Championship last Saturday morning and held onto the No. 1 spot for the sixth consecutive week. Wingate, which finished as runners-up to the Royals over the weekend, was tabbed second in the poll.

Flagler, North Georgia, and Lenoir-Rhyne each moved up one spot to sit at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5, respectively. The Saints successfully defended their Peach Belt Conference title by edging the Nighthawks at the PBC Championships. The Bears placed third at the SAC Championships.

Anderson, which had moved from seventh into third two weeks ago, occupied the No. 6 slot yesterday, while Augusta remained consistent at No. 7. Columbus State (No. 8) and UNC Pembroke (No. 9) flipped spots in the weekly poll, with Catawba rounding out the 10-team poll.

Anderson will get back on the course on Nov. 9 at the 2019 NCAA Southeast Region Championships, which will be hosted by Wingate.
