Women’s Cross Country Jumps Four Spots to Third in Latest USTFCCCA Southeast Region Poll

NEW ORLEANS – After posting impressive finishes at last weekend's Royals Cross Country Challenge, the Anderson University women's cross country team vaulted from seventh place all the way to third in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Southeast Region Rankings, as released by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Queens, the two-time NCAA Southeast Region defending champions, held onto the No. 1 spot for the fifth consecutive week, while Wingate was tabbed second for the third straight week. The Trojans, who posted multiple personal-best outings on the flat, fast McAlpine Creek Park Course, moved back into the slot they occupied in the preseason USTFCCCA poll.

Flagler and North Georgia each dropped one spot to fourth and fifth, respectively, with Lenoir-Rhyne also slipping one spot into sixth. Augusta was seventh in Tuesday's rankings, while UNC Pembroke, Columbus State and Catawba rounded out the 10-team rankings.

Anderson is idle until getting back in action, Saturday, Oct. 26, at the South Atlantic Conference Championships.
